resmedIn honor of Men’s Health Week, Better Rest Solutions, the creator of the SoClean Automated CPAP Equipment Cleaner, is challenging you – yes, you! – to partake in the #8HourSleepChallenge and get a full 8 hours of sleep per night for 8 consecutive days.

Not only will this be great for your physical and mental well-being, but it could win you a ResMed S+ non-contact sleep sensor! Read on for all the details about the #8HourSleepChallenge, or head straight to bit.ly/8HrSleep to enter.

When Is the #8HourSleepChallenge?

The #8HourSleepChallenge begins on Saturday, June 13th and ends on Sunday, June 21st. It runs in tandem with Men’s Health Week and goes right into Father’s Day. Of course, you don’t have to be a man to participate. We want everyone to realize the benefits of better sleep health!

Why the #8HourSleepChallenge?

When people think about health, they often overlook the fact that sleep is a huge factor in their overall well-being. And unfortunately, adults simply aren’t getting enough of it. In fact, it’s reached the point where the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has declared insufficient sleep a public health epidemic.

Insufficient sleep not only increases your risk of health issues such as diabetes, depression, tiredhypertension and obesity, but it’s also linked to car crashes and occupational errors. If you notice that you have a hard time concentrating, remembering things or even taking care of your finances, there’s a chance that insufficient sleep is to blame.

Sleep issues are especially common among men. Sleep apnea, for example, affects approximately 25 percent of the adult population in the United States – and men are twice as likely to have this sleep disorder.

The National Institute of Health recommends that adults get 7-8 hours of sleep per night. When was the last time you got a full 8 hours of sleep every night for a full week? The #8HourSleepChallenge encourages you to put some more thought into your sleep patterns and pay closer attention to the way your mind and body react to more sleep. The results may surprise you! Are you ready to take the challenge?

How to Take the #8HourSleepChallenge

It’s always easier to make a change when you’re not doing it alone – and that’s part of the point of the #8HourSleepChallenge. A little solidarity goes a long way! Better Rest Solutions will be encouraging you from start to finish, so be sure to follow on Facebook and Twitter.

Making a change is also easier when you have a way of holding yourself accountable, and Better Rest Solutions has a solution for that, too.

On each day of the #8HourSleepChallenge, head over to bit.ly/8HrSleep and take a quick poll to evaluate how you’re doing. Each time you take the poll, your name will be entered into a sweepstakes to win a ResMed S+. We’ll draw a winner shortly after the challenge ends.

Find others who are taking the #8HourSleepChallenge by tracking the hashtag #8HourSleepChallenge on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and using that hashtag to post about your own progress.

Good luck, #8HourSleepChallenge participants!

By paying more attention to your sleep health during the #8HourSleepChallenge, we’re confident that you’ll come away with a better understanding of how sleep affects your overall well-being. Hopefully you’ll even continue getting 8 hours of sleep per night once the challenge is over. And if you find that it’s difficult to sleep the full 8 hours, that may be a sign that you’re one of the 50-70 million U.S. adults with sleep or wakefulness disorders.

Good luck, and remember to track your progress over at http://bit.ly/8HrSleep for a chance to win a ResMedS+!
